USS Midway

Now decommissioned and turned into a museum the aircraft carrier the USS Midway is docked in San Diego for everyone to visit. We went on Sunday and had fun exploring.

I'm in the brig. These aren't regular bunks, but regular bunks are about the same size. Oh, look, Rick, Claire and Tommy are in the brig also.

Down in the engine room we were below the water level.

This is the ready room for one of the fighter squadrons - very cool!

Christmas, 2012

This was the first Christmas in our new house...Claire and Tommy received personalized pajamas from Aunt Cliona.

Our tree in the living room.

On Christmas Eve Rick was out flying his RC airplane in the cul-de-sac and Tommy was running around in shorts with no shoes - nice San Diego weather!

A little bit later and the lights on our house and trees show up better.

Christmas morning!!!!

Putting together the Barbie house.

Tommy putting together a lego set.

Grandma with two of her presents, new crocs and a calendar.

We eventually moved the Barbie house upstairs to the landing. Now everyone can play with it or attack it with lego vehicles, your choice.

Visiting Leo Carillo Ranch

Here in Carlsbad is the preserved ranch of Leo Carillo. Mom, Claire and I visited it and walked around.

Leo Carillo is best remembered from the television series The Cisco Kid, on which, beginning at the age of seventy, he portrayed the sidekick Pancho, a role that he had previously played in several films. Duncan Renaldo (1904–1980) starred as The Cisco Kid. The popular syndicated series ran from 1950 until 1956, with most episodes in color. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Carrillo

They have many peacocks on the ranch, but we only saw their footprints.

The pool used to be deeper, but the city shallowed it for safety. It is still very pretty and they had a little beach off to the right.

Claire's Preschool Performance

Claire goes to a very nice preschool called A Children's Garden. They had a holiday performance that was big and bold. Claire wore her clock t-shirt for the performance.

Once we got to the auditorium (that they rented for the show) Claire hung on to daddy and did not let go.

Here are most of the three year olds giving their performance (Claire wasn't the only one hanging on to her daddy in the audience)!

After the performance and a hearty dinner we headed to the Del Mar racetrack for the Holiday Lights Show. We (and many other San Diegans) drove around the dirt racetrack as the blistering speed of 3 mph and looked at the holiday light scenes set up on the infield. It was actually fun. Tommy and Claire liked looking out of the sunroof.
